Frequently Asked Questions

About our soaps...

What makes our soaps different from store-bought soaps?

Every bar is handcrafted in small batches with intention and care. I make both traditional cold process soaps from scratch and beautifully detailed glycerin soaps using high quality bases.

Unlike many commercial bars that contain synthetic detergents, my soaps are made with skin loving oils, butters and thoughtfully chosen ingredients. They are created to be both beautiful and a pleasure to use.

Do you only make cold process soap?

No. I create both cold process and glycerin soaps.

Cold process soaps are made from scratch using oils and lye, then cured for several weeks to create a firm, long lasting bar.

Glycerin soaps allow for fun shapes, vibrant colours and intricate designs. They are perfect for gifts, seasonal collections and a little bit of everyday joy.

Are your soaps suitable for sensitive skin?

Some soaps, particularly those without added fragrance and with simpler ingredient lists, can be a lovely choice for sensitive skin.

However, any soap that contains fragrance, including essential oils, may irritate very sensitive skin. If you are unsure, I recommend choosing a fragrance free option or reaching out before purchasing so I can help guide you.

What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is made by combining oils and lye, which creates a natural reaction called saponification. The bars are then cured for several weeks. This traditional method produces a hard, long lasting bar and retains naturally occurring glycerin within the soap.

Do your soaps contain artificial fragrances or colours?

Ingredients vary by product. Some soaps are scented with essential oils, others with fragrance oils, and some are completely fragrance free.

Colourants may include clays, botanicals, micas and other approved cosmetic colourants depending on the design. Full ingredient details are always listed on each product page.

Why do some soaps have different shapes?

Some shapes are simply for fun and creativity, especially in the glycerin range. Simpler styles often have more minimal ingredient profiles and may be better suited to those with sensitive skin. Always check the individual description to see exactly what is inside each bar.

Product Care

How should I store my soap?

To help your handmade soap last as long as possible, store it in a well draining soap dish and allow it to dry between uses. Avoid leaving it sitting in water or directly under running shower spray.

Unused soaps are best stored somewhere cool and dry to help preserve their colour and fragrance.

Glycerin soaps should remain in their shrink wrap until you are ready to use them. This helps prevent sweating, which is completely normal for glycerin based soaps.

How long will my soap last?

With proper care, a bar typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks with daily use. Longevity depends on storage and frequency of use.

Fragrance and colour will naturally fade over time, usually within about 12 months. However, it will always be soap. Even if the scent softens or the colours mellow, it will still cleanse beautifully.

Why do bars look slightly different from batch to batch?

Each soap is handmade in small batches, so slight variations in colour, swirl patterns or shape are completely normal. That is part of the charm of artisan soap and does not affect quality or performance.
